Heyward, Vivian : Emerita, University of New Mexico

Vivian H. Heyward, PhD, is a Regents professor emerita at the University of New Mexico, where she has taught physical fitness assessment and exercise prescription courses for more than 25 years. Extensively published, Dr. Heyward is the author of three previous editions of Advanced Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription as well as Applied Body Composition Assessment. She also has written more than 60 articles in research and professional journals dealing with various aspects of physical fitness assessment and exercise prescription. Dr. Heyward has given numerous presentations at international, national, and regional meetings of professional organizations in the field. The American College of Sports Medicine named her a fellow in 1997. Her hobbies include weightlifting, rock hounding, and woodcarving.
