Summary

Written specifically for paralegal students, this newly updated edition of Basic Contract Law for Paralegals presents current coverage of all of the essential elements of contract law in a clear and comprehensible manner. Through brief textual explanations and lively examples, Helewitz illuminates the basic concepts of contract law and the practical skills paralegals must use in practice. The text begins with an overview of contracts, and continues on with the basic concepts on contract law: offer, acceptance, and consideration. It then addresses the legality of subject matter and contractual capacity, contractual intent, contract provisions, the Uniform Commercial Code, third party contracts, discharge of obligation, and remedies.

Concluding the book is a chapter on drafting simple contracts. To aid in increasing students' understanding, the book includes examples, key terms, review questions, sample clauses for analysis, and full--length cases at the end of each chapter. An extensive appendix of sample contracts provides useful modes for students. This edition replaced several of the existing cases with ones that are more current and more accessible, and adding a new appendix containing additional longer cases for analysis.
