Introduction to Child Development

The aim of An Introduction to Child Development is to provide undergraduate students in psychology and students in other disciplines who undertake the study of child development with a text that provides a comprehensive survey of the main areas of child development, from infancy through to adolescence. The text aims to equip students with an appreciation of critical issues in the field, points of agreement and disagreement across theoretical perspectives, and an understanding of empirical research that bears on the study of children. The text does this in a format that is readily accessible, informative, and which holds the reader's attention while providing balanced coverage of topics and theoretical perspectives that represent both classic and 'cutting edge' work in child development. An Introduction to Child Development employs a topic-based format, with the chapters organized into four broad sections.
