Author Bio

Danesi, Marcel : University of Toronto

Marcel Danesi is Professor of Semiotics and Communication Theory and coordinator of the University of Toronto Undergraduate Program in Semiotics and Communication Theory at Victoria College. He has published widely on language acquisition and, more recently, on how problem solving can best be approached through culture. Professor Danesi is editor and co-editor of several book series dealing with research and theory in the field of Semiotics. Professor Danesi publishes profusely in the fields of Linguistics, Italian Studies, Applied and Cultural Semiotics, and Communication Theory.


Lettieri, Michael : University of Toronto

Michael Lettieri received his Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto, where he now serves as Associate Dean (Humanities) at the Mississauga Campus. He has served as summer Dean of the Italian School of Middlebury College from 1991 to 1995, and has been Director of the School since 1996. His research has been primarily in the areas of Renaissance Italian literature, textual criticism, and second-language teaching and learning.


Bancheri, Salvatore : University of Toronto

Salvatore Bancheri received his Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto, where he is now an Associate Professor. He has taught at McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada), the University of Ottawa (Canada) and at the Italian School of Middlebury College (Vermont). His research has been primarily in the areas of textual criticism, religious theatre, eighteenth-century literature, Sicilian literature, second-language teaching and learning, theatre: theory and performance, development of CALL software, and computer and research.
