Summary

This updated third edition of Global Criteria: The 12 Core Functions of the Substance Abuse Counselor will help reduce anxiety and build competence in counselors who are seeking certification in accordance with the standards of the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC).

Competency certification of alcohol and drug abuse counselors includes being able to define required knowledge and skills, list functions and duties, conduct job analyzes, and provide role delineation. This book helps prepare an entry level counselor in the 46 global criteria of the 12 core functions and serves as a training tool for not only pre-certification counselors, but also supervisors and veteran counselors. It is a "must read" for counselors preparing to take the Case Presentation Method (CPM) oral examination for certification as a substance abuse counselor for any of the IC&RC boards.
