Author Bio

Garcia, Tomas B. : Florida International University

Dr. Tomas B. Garcia received his undergraduate degree from Florida International University. While applying to medical school, Dr. Garcia was licensed and practiced as an EMT in the state of Florida. Dr. Garcia received his medical degree from the University of Miami. He completed his internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and subsequently received board certification in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Garcia taught and practiced in the Emergency Department of the Brigham and Women s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and Grady Memorial Hospital/Emory Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia. His main area of interest is emergency cardiac care and he lectures nationally on topics related to these issues. Presently, he is the president of heartstuff.com, an Internet site devoted to medical education and emergency cardiac care issues.

Holtz, Neil : Emergency Medical Training Academy

Mr. Neil Holtz has been providing emergency care for the last twenty-two years. He started in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman assigned to the Second Marine Division. After an honorable discharge from the military, he went on to work for NYC*EMS as an EMS Specialist 1. He moved to Metro Atlanta in 1985 to attend Paramedic school at Dekalb Technical School and was employed by Grady Memorial Hospital in 1986, spending eight years in Grady EMS and the last six in the Emergency Care Center. Mr. Holtz has a BS degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He is currently the Director of the Emergency Medical Training Academy in Loganville, Georgia. He teaches ACLS, basic arrhythmia recognition, and 12-lead ECG interpretation.
