Author Bio

Chernicoff, Stanley : University of Washington, Seattle

Stanley Chernicoff received his B.A. degree in Political Science from the City University of New York. After taking a geology class in his final year of school, he was inspired to pursue further study in this field. He subsequently entered the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, geology program where he received his doctorate in Glacial and Quaternary Geology under the guidance of one of America's preeminent glacial geologists, Dr. H.E.Wright.

Since 1981, Chernicoff has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle where he has won several teaching awards. At the university, he has taught classes in Physical Geology, the Great Ice Ages, and the Geology of the Pacific Northwest to more than 20,000 students and has trained hundreds of graduate teaching assistants in the art of bringing geology alive for non-majors.

Fox, Haydn A. : Texas A&M University, Commerce

Haydn A."Chip" Fox received his B.A. in Theology and Journalism from Ambassador College in Big Sandy, TX. In 1986, he returned to college with the intent of becoming an earth science teacher. His interest in geology, earth science, environmental science, and science education eventually led to a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of South Carolina in 1992.

Fox has served in the department of Earth Science at both Southeast Missouri State University and Clemson University. He is currently a faculty member at Texas A&M University, Commerce, where he teaches numerous courses in earth science and the environmental sciences.

Tanner, Lawrence H. : Bloomsburg University

Lawrence H. Tanner received his B.A. in Geology from Williams College in 1978. He subsequently earned a Ph.D in Geology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Currently, he teaches classes in Physical, Environmental and Historical Geology at Bloomsburg University.
