7 Books to Help Conquer Your New Year Goals

in   •
New Year Goals - Achieve Your New Year's Resolutions with These BooksAhh, it’s everyone’s favorite time of year. Set goal, attack goal with zest for, like, three weeks, abandon goal with the same speed. Whatever your new year’s resolution, there are a million ways to get there. If you have a plan that works for you, stick to it. If you don’t have a plan for your new year goals, you need one STAT.

That’s what life coach Brad Waters told us when we talked new year's resolutions. He also said you need to prepare to fail and have setbacks. We’re not being negative. A dose of Journal of Clinical Psychology reality tells us only 8% of us achieve our goal, and 25% of us don’t make it past the first week.

So, what’s your resolution? Maybe more gym time or less screen time. Or trying meditation and trying a fewer nights of partying? More outdoor time over less gaming? All worthy, we say. According to NBC News, and data pulled from Google by iQuanti, the resolutions below were the most searched new year goals last year.

And now it’s time to grab a book (see “prepare” above) and get on those new year goals. Here’s to being an 8-percenter!

Healthy is relative – and it involves more than a crash diet and a few extra trips to the gym in January. The Whole30 concept focuses on natural, simple, real food and avoiding white carbs and processed ingredients (in other words, the bagel buffet is out). Combine good meal planning with regular workouts, and you’ll be well on your way to “get healthy.”

Did someone say self-improvement and personal passions? Last year, more than 17,000,000 searched about learning a new hobby. What’s on your resolution list? Piano, Spanish, furniture design, fixing a car, baking, html, film, painting, knitting, whittling, guitar, cooking, illustration, Photoshop, crafting, drums, or ballet? Yup, we have a book for that.

You might expect personal finance books to be a bit snoozy, but Lowry’s writing has spunk, putting a smile on your face while she helps you navigate budgets, student loan debt, credit cards, and investing.
